Frank Ocean - Pyramids (Official Video)

It is about time Frank Ocean releases a video for Channel Orange. I was hoping it would be Sweet Life or Pink Matter, maybe even Bad Religion. However, it ended up being Pyramids. It is a long video and in classic Frank style he does not lip sync, he starts off shooting up a bar (Pink Matter intro... syke) He then hops onto a motorcycle and the next thing we know he is in a desert. With trailing white lines following him, I guess to symbolize that he is high.

Then boooooom he is the strip club and we are introduced to a couple of Cleopatras, some of them are almost naked. Dancing on poles, dancing for dirty old white & Asian men. Then cut in and out of strip club and the desert highway scene. Then the last section is a John Mayer guitar solo with an obviously high Frank just starring at him.

At the end of the solo Frank falls back on to the ground and then raises from the desert floor, his face covered in dust. He starts walking his motorcycle comes into focus, he walks past it and onto the desert road with the 'End' or outro from Channel Orange playing in the background. A very interesting video to say the least.

Frank Ocean SNL Performance - Pyramids Live

There was a lot of speculation on which would be the second song that Frank would perform for his SNL debut. Well it was Pyramids, for the first time we see that Frank has got moves too. He throws in a little 'Money Dance' in there around the 'keep a nigga bills paid' lyrics. The tweeted about it later. All in all a very origional performance which ends with a John Mayer guitar solo and Frank playing one of the arcade games that were on the stage.

So for his SNL performance Frank decided to sit down on a stool for this one. The falsetto is crazy, I try getting that high and my voice always cracks up. You can feel the emotion on this one when Frank sings it. Yet Another powerful performance. Oh, I almost forgot, it is not the same version of 'Thinking About You' you have heard over and over again. Frank remixes the song again. I think this makes his live performances something to always look forward too.

I was eagerly anticipating Frank Oceans first performance at an awards show and boy was I not disappointing.  Frank opted to go with just an accompanying guitar and that boy sang his heart out of that song 'Thinking About You'.  With a simple bonfire setting and the house lights dimmed, Mr Ocean took that stage and commanded that stage Barefoot in a black suit and his trademark head band.

I thought he was going to do 'Bad Religion' or Sweet Life or something but he stuck to the song most people know, but gave it a new spin. You could feel the pain in that falsetto, you could feel Frank 'thinking about' whoever this person was, who was his first. I was left dumbfounded at the end of the performance, which was clearly the best of the VMAs for me.

Even Lady Gaga tweeted, 'she died' after watching this performance. She was one of the many artisits who turned to twitter after the performance to give Frank the praise he deserves.  Zoe Saldana, introduced his performance and even she too was excited to see him perform.

Well done, Frank! Next is the 2013 Grammy's! :) There will be no One Direction. lol
